Common Bath Soaks
People have been adding flowers, oils, salts, and herbs to their baths for centuries. Many bath salts and soaks can have different effects on our hair, skin, and mood. You probably have most of the ingredients already on hand to create an amazing bath soak.
There’s a great article on the history of baths from around the world on Maude, so I won’t cover it again here. But baths and bath soaks do have proven detoxifying, and joint healing properties.
Bath Soak to Relax & Destress
Set yourself up with a coconut hair mask, and a soothing face mask, some lemon water and peppermint tea.
Need a serious detox? Baking soda is helpful for pulling toxins out of the skin. You can also sweat it out by adding these ingredients to the hottest bath you can stand for a potent bath soak.
Bath Soak to Lift Your Spirits
Feeling the winter blues? Need to recenter yourself? this bath soak recipe is great with a detox mask, tea, and a journal.
- 1 tbsp Full Cloves
- Orange slices
- 3 drops Pine essentail oil
- Lemon Slices
- 2 tbsp Coconut Oil
- Cinnamon Stick
Looking to schedule a little bit of me-time? Transform your bathroom with a few candles, and your coziest towel. Pair with a lavender peach spritzer and your favourite album.
After my depression, I have very much learned to re-embrace my home-body lifestyle. This includes a few weekend nights by myself. This bath soak goes great with some Netflix, bubbly, and your favourite candy.
- 2 tbsp Coconut oil
- Lemon slices
- Lavender Epson salts
- 2 tbsp Honey
Bath Soaks for When You’re Ill
To soothe cramps – baths at this time of the month are heavenly and help improve so many of my symptoms immensely.
- Handful of Raspberry leaves
- Epsom Salts
- 1 Cbd bath bomb (see below)
- 2 tbsp Honey
- Handful of Chamomile flowers
When it gets dry in the winter, my asthma acts up. A few years ago, I bruised my ribs from coughing so hard. A good bath soak can really help you breathe easier, even if it’s just a cold.
